  Call this tool when the assistant should actively present the calculator widget to the user instead of only answering with text. The purpose of the tool is not to perform hidden computation on the model side; its main role is to surface an interactive calculator interface that the user can directly use. Invoke it whenever the user explicitly asks for a calculator, asks to open or show a calculator, wants to enter numbers themselves, or appears likely to benefit from a reusable on-screen calculator for one or more arithmetic operations. This includes requests involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, discounts, taxes, gratuities, cost estimates, bill splitting, margin checks, and other common numeric manipulations where a tactile interface is more helpful than a one-off prose response. Prefer calling the tool when the user may want to experiment with multiple inputs, verify several scenarios, or continue calculating after the initial answer. The tool is also appropriate when the user’s wording suggests they want a utility or interface rather than an explanation, such as “bring up a calculator,” “let me compute this,” “I need a calculator,” or similar requests. Avoid calling the tool when the user only wants a final numeric answer in text, when the request requires higher-level reasoning or explanation instead of a calculator UI, or when the task falls outside basic calculator behavior, such as symbolic math, formal derivations, advanced statistics, or domain-specific computation. In those cases, answer normally. Use this tool when showing the widget will materially improve usability by giving the user a direct interactive calculation surface.
